The public's hero Thuli Madonsela uncovered massive maladministration and a whole nest of tender violations at our beloved Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa. PRASA's long distance locomotives will not be doing any long distance, but we are learning Mandarin now. That is a good thing, any language development is a good thing. It is also a good thing because we are going to be doing a lot of business with China.
The avalanche that China started with their currency correction has now developed into a full-blown catastrophe. In what is the biggest slide since 1996 the Chinese Government has decided not to step in and rescue the market this time round, citing it as a global problem. You don't say. They are calling it 'Black Monday'.
European markets and economists are battling the fallout and doing whatever they can to correct the slide. I am oblivious as to what we are doing here in SA. Perhaps we can install another swimming pool. That will help with drought relief. We can call it a drought pond and maybe we will get some collateral to cover the infrastructure and a few overseas trips to the Maldives or Hong Kong.
As it appears we are getting into bed with the Chinese, and the Russians, with that nuclear power generation deal. Some say it is done, others deny this and say it still has to go the distance of tender and all that. Some of us know how that works. Nudge nudge, wink wink.
The DA's Maimane voiced his concerns about our in depth relationships with the two nations, while we seem to be turning our backs on our biggest trading partner, that being Europe.
Well Europe has their problems as well of course. One massive problem is the puppet President of the Ukraine, installed, some say, by the US. Old Petro Poroschenko could be seen smiling next to German Chancellor Angela Merkel while she insisted that the Minsk peace deal must be respected. He could have been laughing up his sleeve as he has been accused of rattling his saber quietly while nobody was looking. Waiting for the right moment to initiate his agenda.
The Political analyst Aleksander Pavic told one news channel his thoughts saying, "I think Petro Poroshenko is just trying to get additional public support for what he's being prepared to do, inside and outside Ukraine: a new push to resume war in Ukraine. So, I think he probably has the backing of his Western sponsors, and this is just something that needs to be more public Obviously, the rhetoric that's coming out of Kiev is that Minsk, the Minsk agreements, are pretty much dead," and so the curtain of deceit is in place and more atrocities against mankind can be expected from just about everywhere.
