Learning from a Durban Waterman
Learning from a Durban Waterman
There is nothing quite like learning from someone who has spent a lifetime reading the ocean.
This afternoon, the ESA Junior Team had the opportunity to spend time with one of South Africa's true watermen, Jason Ribbink, a big wave charger, SA Open and Longboard Champion, former SA Team Captain and one of the pioneers of South Africa's big wave surfing scene.
Jason shared his experience, knowledge and plenty of wisdom from a career that has taken him from national titles and World Championship success to some seriously heavy waves.
But perhaps even more importantly, Jason has always had a passion for helping the next generation of South African surfers find their feet in the water.
For our young ESA surfers, having someone of Jason's experience on hand is a wonderful opportunity to listen, learn and soak up the knowledge that only years in the ocean can bring.
With the SA Junior Championships taking place in Jeffreys Bay later this month, the timing could not be better.
