What's the issue?
Corona Virus, COVID-19, these are the only first words to this weekly column I could muster as you can well understand. It is eye popping anticipation that is threatening to continue for some time, however we have to keep our eyes open as these exciting times are creating a cover for some things that should be getting our attention.
One of those things if the amazing G5 network that is being rolled out while everyone obsesses over toilet paper. While we're checking out how many ply the roll has, the scourge that is reportedly G5 is being installed in our neighbourhoods.
With the turmoil that the reaction to the virus has brought upon us, we can probably say that we were not ready for this sort of thing. Our systems certainly weren't and the way that America is printing money it will be a major plus if we still have Fiat currencies when Carona leaves us alone. Alasdair Macleod doesn't think they will last till Christmas.
I don't even want to contemplate what the world will look like then, just keeping my head above water will be good enough for me.
The S&P 500 fell a whopping 30%, the fastest sell off in the history of Wall Street, faster than the great depression.
Some good news that might come of this is the SAA business-rescue practitioners (why do they call them that ) have stated that the raped pillaged and plundered airline will now most likely have to throw in the towel and apply to the courts for liquidation. Such an utter waste of good money that venture proved to be.
While Hubei Province in China, the first place Corona virus was detected, slowly comes out of lockdown, removing checkpoints and getting back to normal life, people the world over are wondering when they will see the same happening.
Well the English didn't listen to President Bojo the clown, so now they are getting some more stringent restrictions, the 2m social disting didn't work with the Poms.
As the Japanese Prime Minister starts to see the light of day and contemplates postponing the Olympics, people with a little more humanity in them are calling for the removal of all sanctions against countries struggling with the viral pandemic, rightly claiming that these so called sanctions are inhumane.
This is a time when real leadership will reveal itself and cronyism will be forced out, purely through necessity. I hope so anyway.
As I write this it is World Tuberculosis Day, and although we have nearly got the TB disease on the back foot, it is an added threat to anyone with the illness when confronted by Corona.
Now I know we have many very intelligent people amongst us and there will be those who believe that they are untouchable and above the law, you will see them flaunting the lockdown in the next few days. It is people like these that proved Bojo the clown wrong with his two meter gap. Try to be clever, stay locked down as much as you can, for everyone and yourself too.
