Tender is the soul in change
It's always an uphill battle, these last two months of the year, the last eight issues until I can kick back and forget deadlines for a few weeks.. I look forward to the year end break so much it almost completely consumes me.
However in order to take some time off, I have to work extra hard to make up for the loss of 'billable hours', no free lunch when you are self employed, as many of my self employed readers would attest to.
Motivational talks are what I turn to when I start spinning out. TedTalk is my favourite go-to self help channel. I listen to it while I'm working and it helps me put things in perspective.
Recently I came across a talk by Robert Holden you can find it here https://www.findhorn.org/findhorn-live/tedxfindhorn_2018/, the title of the talk is Tea Meditation and Robert spins a beautiful tale of just how much we have today compared with say, 20 years ago. Referring to the array of tea types that are available in our Supermarkets today and how the simple tea drinking culture has changed and how we are driven with our need to buy, consume and spend.
At the end of his talk, Robert ask us, his viewers, to go and make ourselves a cup of tea, sit down somewhere peaceful and think about who we would be if we didn't need anything, if we had no desire to buy anything and just be content with what we have.
Robert encourages us to stop for a moment in all our busyness, and see what we are putting first. Is it work Is it living Is it our wants Our desires He really makes a point of laughing at our newfound sense of abundance.
He says that when we gain a felt sense that the earth is conscious and that we can interact with it, we powerfully enhance our life experience and can be truly fulfilled with our place in the world all we have to do is wash away the drama that covers our essential nature.
Every soul has to do its own inner seeking and finding. Join me as I make my cup of Spiced Chai Tea and think about life without any needs, where contentment is all I feel in my heart. Ah, now that sounds like a plan I am willing to make. Let's be kind to ourselves this week, "What's the rush "
