What is the issue

As I write this column today, our country is on the eve of general elections, never before have we had so much to gain from an election, the last time we had so much to lose and over the past 25 years or so we have lost it by the billions, neigh the hundreds of billions.

The uneducated voter has such a bad memory that I fear we are doomed to repeat the mistakes we made, and the saddest part about that is that the suffering will be delivered ten fold more to the poor. It's a simple extra letter that caused all this anguish. The difference between how to run a country and how to ruin a country, one letter makes all the difference.

So whether it's Hlaudi Motsoeneng that becomes our next president, you could be amazed what a purple onesie can do for your political career, or if it's another thief that steals all our taxes and gives them to billionaires, the outcome of these elections will soon be known to all and we can then move on as a country. As the rainbow nation, I am not too sure if we qualify for that illustrious title anymore, we will know by the weekend.

So like lemmings to the cliff we run, screeching the praises of our leaders and baying for the promise of all the good things they will bring us, if we vote for them. If the predictions by consulting firm IPSOS is anywhere near the actual outcome, then my pretzels are going to be soggy and salty.

But still we don't have it as bad as the big hitters out there. Donald is getting gears on so many fronts. The Little Rocket Man just let off another short range missile, testing Donald and provoking a character defining response from war mongering Mike Pompeo, much in keeping with what we would expect from his imbecilic approach to his position.

The American sponsored, created and directed uprising in Argentina is in the process of falling flat on its face. At one stage Venezuela was the second strongest economy in the world, second only to the USA. No so much the case these days.

The trade war between America and China hated up a few degrees with Donald imposing new trade tariffs. They are not happy and are sending the highest level negotiator to the US to sort things out. America in the meantime is courting India, looking for somewhere to send the stuff they would have sent to China maybe

So in the fight for the control of oil, the thick black goo that's clogging up our world, America is sending an aircraft carrier strike force to the Middle East, "to send a clear and unmistakable message to the Iranian regime that any attack on United States interests or on those of our allies will be met with unrelenting force".

Oil makes plastic and we just keep on producing the very stuff that will eventually be our demise. Nobody calling on the packaging companies to get up and pick up the trash they make. Not hearing that shout anywhere.
