Through my eyes

Through my eyes

Oh dear, everyone is offended for anything these days.

People are so sensitive, so attached to their status, their positions, and their importance. Everything is so Politically Correct these days that you can't crack a joke about almost anything without someone being offended.

I think its time to grow up and get a grip on what is fundamentally important, or we will end up in a sterile world where we never deviate from Political Correctness for fear of being shamed and devalued.

I do believe its time we returned to complete freedom of speech, to say what we like to whom we like about anything we like. Maybe the truth will set us free and we will grow up and see the truth for what it is.

And maybe just maybe we will be able to focus on something much larger than our 'minute self' and focus on the state of our community and those less privileged than ourselves.

So instead of getting worked up over trivia and our self-importance, lets concentrate on something a lot more important, like helping others.

On the 29 August Rockwood Theatre in Sibaya will host a fundraiser in aid of the "Ray of Hope Babies Home" in Glen Hills Durban. Sibaya GM, Melville Vogel is hosting the event and hopes to raise awareness for the home where the house parents provide a loving and nurturing environment for babies while taking care of the day to day running of the home.

"We are delighted to be partnering with Rockwood Theatre and Immanuel Christian Church in a fundraising evening for Ray of Hope Babies Homein Glen Hills. Sibaya Casino prides itself in trying to support needy communities in our great city. We urge you, our community, to show your support by booking a ticket to the Jukebox Hits Show on 29 August, all proceeds will go to keeping Ray Of Hope from closing down. This show features a phenomenal 10 piece cast,Jukebox Hitsis fast, energetic, pulsating and is going to rock!" said Melville Vogel, Regional General Manager, Sun International.

Ray of Hope Babies Home offers love, care, protection and hope to babies and toddlers in crisis. They have a long list of needs, from bread and fresh fruit and vegetables to a Kitchen revamp and a Photographer to update the babies photos regularly.

For the price of a ticket you will be helping those who cannot help themselves. Small and vulnerable babies who have been abandoned or who have been removed from their guardians.

We live in an insulated world, one filled with privilege and entitlement. Here is an amazing opportunity to take a moment to stop focusing on ourselves and our issues, and focus on others, those who need our help.
