Life is not easy. Not just here in SA, not just for us on the African continent. Life is hard for the 99% of the global population. Just switch on the news and see for yourself. People all over the world are struggling to have meaningful lives. Struggling to make ends meet - struggling socially, struggling financially and spiritually.
Why?
Well, because, lets be honest - it is really hard out there. So many of us are sick or we know people who are sick and in pain. It's so much harder to make ends meet and retain our lifestyles. Our families are scattered all over the globe and our support groups have shrunk and are no longer functioning. Our faith is dwindling on a fragile lifeline; we are just too busy working to be present for our faith.
So we function and do our best to be positive and happy but so often we fall short of the goal and blame ourselves when our best is no longer good enough.
Here are a few life lessons I would love to share with you.
Firstly, unplug. Switch off what is not working for you. Turn off the TV, unfollow pages or accounts on social media that make you feel anything other than empowered, question what you are told by the media (does it feel true, are they just trying to fear monger?), and remember that fear holds back growth.
Apply austerity measures to your life. Before you buy something, step back and ask why you are buying it - what is your motivation? There is nothing wrong with buying something because it is beautiful or fun, but are you buying it to satisfy a deeper longing?
Happiness is not found in things, they make life more beautiful but they cannot repair spiritual breaks. Just the process of asking this question will have you understanding and clearing that stuck energy.
You are enough. You do not have to be anyone or anything that doesn't feel right to you. Don't try so hard to put labels on things - your beliefs, processes, ideas or understanding. Just be, and give yourself permission to change your mind.
Stop. Don't worry so much about what you eat. Happiness is not found in a super food smoothie or vegan cheesecake. It is found in your inner landscape -how you feel about yourself. Take it in three steps. Eat food that makes you feel full of energy and love. Move your body a little every day, and go outside, breathe fresh air and get your feet dirty.
I send love and light to all of you out there. Remember you are beautiful!
I do not know anything that you do not already know.
If anything, I might be a till tilling the fertile soil of your soul.
A mirror cleared of the hazy cloud of the myths and stories of our time
The ones that do not serve our highest selves.
I do not care what you look like on the outside
Because I see who you are on the inside
That which lives long long after your skin decays off your bones
And your bones turn to dust.
I see you as a legacy
As a story whose chapters are crafted by the artistry of time
Dancing with who you are moment to moment to moment.
I see who you are
A profound opportunity, a gorgeous gift, a manifestation of the divine
I know who you are
And I do not know anything that you do not already know.
