Whats The Issue?

Whats The Issue?

Date: 2014-11-28
As we hunker down to go into the festive season, our political system is showing signs of stress and strain, the heavy weight of failing parastatals hanging around its neck, the mismanagement loaded on its back and then an excess of corruption dropped on its head.

And now as our political system staggers towards February the 12th, the date set aside for Jacob to address the nation in front of the National Assembly and the National Council Of Provinces. It will be the first time that Number One appears on the political stage since August's showdown.

But it seems that No. 1 has all that NA and NCOP sewn up, they are not standing up to him. However the guys in the red overalls, well they want their money, or should I say, they want our money. They want it back. And they will probably do more than sing and dance at the state of the nation address, if their leadership selection process is anything to go by. Actually they have promised to do just that. SO get your cameras ready, because the circus that is our political system is about to produce another act.

We have to all pull together and pray that our young democracy is not compromised too terribly and survives this terrible storm. Well talking of storms. There is a veritable 5#!* storm coming down on Obommer's head. I bet he wishes he could just send in a drone and sort it out. But the streets were ablaze and his speech was as lame as a dead duck.

On the terror front the stats are back and they have figured out that it costs 28 civilian lives to kill one terrorist leader. I think we should send them back to the drawing board and ask them to calculate how many lives would be saved if we killed just one Western leader. Oh that is harsh, but think if America didn't want military bases in Syria and Ukraine, how many lives per month would be saved? Okay, it is not that simple, but then maybe it is.

In the meantime Monsanto is closing the door on food security and our water supply is almost guaranteed to fall below our requirements. While we tear into each other and bomb the blazers out of each other there are people dying from Ebola and starvation, malaria and obesity. We are so caught up in our own whirlwind we can't see we're killing the bees and the birds and the rhino, canning the lions and depleting the oceans of dolphin and tuna alike. We hack the rain forests for wood and refuse recycled material with almost the exact same properties. It is as if we are set on a course of self-destruction with our leaders regulating us into a corner.

I know, I know, I am just whinging again. SO the solution is my friend, to smile nod, agree and do what ever you want to do.
