What's the issue?

What's the issue?

Author: Tomas Yoko

Starting with the worst and gently improving, I would have to set off with the carnage going down in Gaza. This conflict is a blight on humanity and something much more serious to those living in the area. It is so complex and convoluted all we can do is stand by and watch as each side justifies their actions.

Rockets and bombs and murdered children, what has become of our human spirit? Looking at the conspiracy theories this could be the catalyst for "The Big One". I hope and pray that it is not. Syria caused enough misery and continues to do so, and in an event maybe not so removed from what is going down in Gaza, the BRICKS meeting in Brazil and the establishment of a hundred billion dollar financial reserve and fifty billion dollar bank, I am holding thumbs it will start working for the five largest emerging markets in the world and boost their clout.

Why am I quoting the amount in Dollars? What am I thinking? This group are probably not going to want to touch another dollar in their day. What is a hundred billion dollars in Rubels? Or Rupees? Or will they use the Yen? I don't think after they got the cold shoulder at the World Bank and were left out of the development funding that the West seemed to have been keeping to themselves or spending on the Middle East or war in the Middle East, that they will be operating in the Dollar. Probably the reason why so much Western media is playing down the event. So happy to be South African and included in this new monetary system that looks like it is being born. Where do I apply for a loan?

Edward Snowden continues to be a thorn in the side of the spy world with his latest flood of documents detailing exactly how powerful the tools at the hands of the powers that be are. Nothing is safe anymore, apparently even Skype can be listened to at their will. The same stuff that the British Government are planning to increase their powers to include, I imagine.

Then there is the economy destroying metalworkers strike, being led by NUMSA, again being allowed to drag the countries economy even further into the doldrums of recession without the drastic intervention, I imagine, that a government that was committed to progress would have facilitated by this stage. Kaiser Nyatsumba and metal industry employers have taken their increase offer off the table and another humanitarian crisis seems set to develop. In the meantime the international investors who might have been thinking about doing business in South Africa will be holding back or looking somewhere else. And there are realities of exactly this happening.

Meantime back on the farm, the workforce want ownership and the owner wants out so we will let the fields plough themselves while we take a trip to the mall.
