What's the issue?

What's the issue?

Author: Tomas Yoko

Here we go, talk of war in the centre of Europe, I am convinced that there powers that be, which are wholly intent on starting a mother of a war purely to generate huge wads of cash. More cash than you and I could wish to dream of, lumps and lumps of cash flowing into their vaults, endlessly.

I hope I am wrong and that it is only the conspiracy theorist in me that is clutching at straws and coming up with stories.

What am I going on about? Well it is the Ukraine debacle of course, and there is Obama, meddling in yet another nations affairs. With the referendum in Crimea achieving a massive landslide vote, why is the West still shaking the tree and waving their flags.

I am not the only one who thinks America is meddling, another American, Ron paul, the former Republican representative for Texas recently spoke out saying "Opponents of the Crimea vote like to point to the illegality of the referendum," but self-determination is a centerpiece of international law" said Paul. "Article I of the United Nations Charter points out clearly that the purpose of the UN is to 'develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples. Why does the US care which flag will be hoisted on a small piece of land thousands of miles away?"

What was Obama's standpoint in Iraq when the elections held during an armed occupation of that country were called free and fair and a wonderful success?

There is not much that G7, the US and the EU can do about Russia absorbing Crimea and the Ukraine, and as I write this the G7 are preparing to meet to discuss the matter further. More sanctions and more futile efforts to prevent the inevitable. I can only think that there is an ulterior motive.

Anyway we have our own struggles to work with back here in good old S.A. Maybe not so old as we are a young democracy, only 20 years. However our public protector Thuli Madonsela is being shoved out into the cold in what looks like an attempt to shut down the Nkandla report. The report is due to be released next week, if nothing gets in its way. Public Works Minister Thulas Nxesi looks like he will get away scot free with his blatant deceits and we will all look the other way and vote on.

Number one recently told voters that the ANC will rule until Jesus comes back. I was amazed when I read with interest the new religious rhetoric being used by electioneering politicians. An article entitled "God votes ANC - the rest can go to hell" Eish.
