What's the issue?

What's the issue?

Author: Tomas Yoko

Yes we can! But hey, we more than likely wont. We are the most ridiculous species on the face of the earth, except for those species whose female members eat their male counterparts after mating. That is just absurd, we will never beat that.

We can end famine and not have a single hungry child on the face of the earth. We can, we can do it, but we probably wont. We will more than likely carry on fighting over imaginary boundaries while scrapping over money that will never be circulated amongst us.

We can easily put a stop to the use of fossil fuels and generate enough energy and power from solar, wind and hydrogen. We can stop the degradation of our only planet and make our future that much brighter, however we more than likely will carry on poisoning our own air supply and fracking up the gasses to burn and pollute.

We can put an end to all wars, we really are capable of that, but we wont. We will carry on fighting one another over who is right and who is wrong, or at least that is what we will think we are fighting about, actually it will be about who gets the money and who doesn't.

So if you're reading between the lines, and I suggest you don't, but if you are then I suggest further that you do not despair. All is not lost, there is a way and that way is called protest.

Yes, check it out, Ukarain is showing us the way, protesting against their self centred leader who is making laws willy nilly just to suit his political agenda. Sound familiar? They are going to get him kicked out of his presidential slot, and two people have already died trying. Anyway suppose I must pause here to congratulate the thousands and thousands of people, motorists, bikers and pedestrians alike who came out in support of the protest against eTolls. This is the biggest embarrassment and disaster our road networks have ever been subject to. Shame on the media who reported that just a few people turned up to protest. Downplaying the will of the people like that will not get you anywhere, even if Government spending on your pages will. It is the people who read and buy you, hello!

Anyway we have to unite and stand together, and so we are doing just that. Look at the bromance between Julius and Mangosuthu. Now there is a combination. Another combination that really appeals to me is the sisters getting together. Ramphele getting together with Helen really made me smile. If the USA can have a black president the RSA can have a Woman President. I know that things will be a whole lot better.

Maybe there wont be some angel investors ready to build a R1,5 billion highway to Nkandla for no return and no favour, maybe they wont build massive compounds to keep themselves safe, but one thins is for sure. The lack of testosterone in the President's of South Africa's chair can only be a good thing at this stage in our history.
