Hospice

Hospice

Date: 2014-01-24
In front, Ellen Drijber, qualified Professional Nurse, with the CEO of Khanya Hospice, Neil McDonald and visiting social worker, Simone Snijders (Asten - near Nijmegen) both from The Netherlands making a quick visit to Khanya Hospice to come and see the work Hospice is doing on the upper South Coast of KZN. They have heard so much about Khanya Hospice Project and want to go back home with first hand information. "What a great project" says, both of them.

Welcoming the two at Hospice, at the back, care worker Nonjabulo Mavundla, Lungi Khumalo with Sr NC Mbatha and Thabile Dlamini. These Dutch volunteers have been very impressed by what they have seen and experienced in their time with Hospice staff. The way Hospice staff treat their patients, the tender, loving care that each patient gets, was really wonderful for the visitors to see. They also expressed their concerns about the rural roads and how difficult it is for patients to access health facilities. We would love to come back and help and would also encourage other volunteers to do the same.
