F1 Report

F1 Report

Date: 2013-11-29
Sebastian Vettel  matched Michael Schumacher's record this weekend when he crossed the line in first position for the ninth consecutive win and thirteenth first place oferall to become the undisputable champion of Formula 1 this year.

It was sad to see his teammate Mark Webber bow out of the sport, but good to see him finish on a high having finished in second place in Brazil this Sunday.

Webber almost manager to pip Vettel at the post when Red Bull's pit crew fumbled their rubber during a chaotic period caused by Mercedes-Benz's lewis Hamilton and Williams' Valtteri Bottas colliding with each other. Webber drove a masterful race, showing his prowess as a Formula 1 Driver to the very end of his career.

But nothing could stop Vettel's brilliance, whom having lost the lead managed to pull it back and finish with a ten second plus lead on Webber.

For a while it really was anybody's race but once Vettel turned on the pace it became quite obvious that Red Bull's dominance was not going to falter.

The final result for the Driver's Championship had Sebastian Vettel with a lead of 155 points on a total massive points tally of 397. Fernando Alonso took second place in the saga with his mass of 242 points and was followed by a well deserving Mark Webber on 199. Lewis Hamilton managed fourth place with 189 points and fifth place went to Kimi Raikkonen with 183 in absentia.

The Constructor's Championship was also a runaway for Red Bull massing a grand total of 596 points, whole 236 points ahead of Mercedes-Benz's 360 score. Ferrari took third place with 354, Lotus did really well this season ending in fourth place on 315 points ahead of McLaren's 122.

Next year's season kicks off in Melbourne Australia on the 13th to 16th of March. Read about it in The Bugle.
