Through My Eyes

Through My Eyes

Author: Kasia Yoko
Date: 2013-10-18
Some serious dancing in the rain has given me the snifflesI would love to take the day off and just stay in bed but life is way more complicated for that.

It was my husband 50th birthday and while I have tried very hard to convince him to do something fun and spontaneous for his birthday he insisted that he wanted to have a big party and so when I realised that I would not be able to talk him out of it, we went ahead with the invitations.

Oh and what a party it was!

Not even the rain put a damper on it and for the first time in forever no one used the excuse of rain for not making it as all the invited guests were present.

There is something magical about throwing a party but trust me I am not looking forward to another one for at least another ten years.

Talking about magic
The last couple of days have been too good to be true. The air was so clean, the ocean so invigorating, sadly looking at the local news, it seems as if we have taken so many brave steps forward only to be taking hundred thousand steps back with Malema's war/hate speech.

Oh how I loathe this man. I could not believe the television commentator was saying that he understands why Malema has so many supporters.

With blood red banners flying above his head, Malema raised the fear bar for me"A revolutionary must become a cold killing machine motivated by pure hate"or "Honeymoon is over for white people in South Africa", oh and how about this one, "We need to kill them like they killed us".

Now I do not know about you, but this kind of propaganda is making me very scared. All I want is peace. A safe roof over my head and a security for my children.

I am so saddened when I see my friend's children scattered across the globe running away from threats such as the recent ones thrown about by Malema.

As much as I understand that there has been serious inequality in South Africa many years ago and maybe in some places it still exists today but inequality exists everywhereits not exclusive to SA or even to Africa.

Inequality is worldwide; people are treated unfairly in their own countries all over the globe. Whether it is a racial issue, a class issue, religious, economic or just plain ignorance - there is no place in the world that is the utopia Malema is spinning to his followers.

I am so sad when I think of having to pack my bags and moving out of SA because of Malema's megalomaniac tendencies. With his threats and accusations, the livelihood of millions who call South Africa home and who are mostly innocent of any wrongdoing is under threat.

Oh if only there was a magic wand I could wave around and turn Malema into aI could think of so many nasty creaturescome on send me some ideas that you have about what to do with Malema
