F1 Report

F1 Report

Date: 2013-03-28
After Mark Webber led much of the race having made a good tyre judgement call in Malaysia this weekend, controversy erupted in the Red Bull camp when his team mate and last year's World Champion, Sebastian Vettel seemed to ignore radio messages from his team not to overtake Webber and to follow him home in P2.

Well t was obvious from Webber's expression when he got out of his Red Bull Race car, that he was not impressed. Vettel capitulated and offered apology after apology saying, "I messed up today. I would love to come up with a nice excuse as to why I did it, but I can't. I can understand Mark's frustration and the team not being happy with what I did today; I owe an explanation to him and the whole team. I will try to explain to them later."

With that Vettel matches Sir Jackie Stewart's record of 27 F1 wins.

The Mercedes-Benz team showed much more discipline when Lewis Hamilton finished in third place after Nico Rosberg followed the Mercedes team boss Ross Brawn's instructions not to pass Hamilton but to preserve fuel and tyres. Here was Hamilton lamenting his position after admitting that his team mate Rosberg had driven a much more intelligent race than he.

So much of the race depends on the tyres, so get down to Kwik Fit, Verulam and let them check your rubber before you take any long trips this weekend.
