I am totally apposed to both sides use of military action and find war to be the most evil act of man. Disgusting and reprehensible. Our prayer's that I encouraged in my last column don't seem to have been answered, but let's keep praying, the suffering of innocents and especially the children just makes the whole Gaza strip saga that much more disgusting. I truly hope that Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi is right that the attack from the Israeli's will stop, I applaud President Netanyahu's decision to postpone the ground attack by 24 hours and pray that Russia's potential involvement puts an end to the carnage as well as the senseless bombing of Israel by Hamas. Otherwise, watch out boys, those Jews don't play.
On a lighter note, Ju Ju's buddy, Kagiso Dichabe has just been alleged as one of the 'Tenders For Buddies' recipients. His company Kopania Engineers is presently receiving between half a million Rand to three quarters of a million Rand a month for a data capture tender contract in the Northern Cape. His company is Gauteng based, he allegedly charges over R1 200 per hour and a data capture clerk, which requires the skill of anyone with a simple computer literacy certificate, is allegedly charged out at around R700 per hour, ten times the normal rate. All the way from Gauteng while the Northern Cape residents remail unemployed and empoverished. How's that for a lighter topic of conversation.
On a heavier note, the only protection we are getting as the public seems to have been coming from Thuli Madonsela, our public protector, and she is now going to be publically scrutinised, probably in an effort to discredit her. I must say that I am holding thumbs that she survives this ordeal. Without her, we the public will have even less defence than we already have.
On the issue of the no confidence vote brought against President Zuma, it seems that Mangaung and the timing of the succession battle is more than co-incidental. But when the ANC can openly admit to actively going out of their way to make the Western Cape ungovernable, I'm afraid even I lose confidence in the big man.
As a joke I must admit that I did laugh at how banking city trader Kweku Adoboli lost 1.4 billion pounds of UBS Bank's money. One or two more gambling transactions and he would have bankrupted Switzerlands biggest bank. Harsh, but is there poetic justice in that.
