Gary Formato made the Ford Racing team really proud as he managed to clinch second place in the Wesbank Superseries Calss T production car Championship for 2014. Having taken first place in both 2011 and 2009, his over performing turbo boost in the Ford Focus ST penalized him too many times for him to take this year's title away from the winner Graeme Nathan.
Ending the season on a high note the last track meeting for this class of racing once again provided thrilling action. Shaun Duminy from SMD Group in Ballito took his Ford Focus ST by the horns and gave his rival Graeme Nathan some very enthusiastic attention during the second race. His teammate Gary Formato went on to win the race and seal second position in the championship.
Duminy's season was also plagued with an over performing turbo boost and technical problems. The muscular Ford Focus ST's never really took off this season, however their having made it to second position even with all their troubles speak volumes of their potential.
Graeme Nathan finished the season on 202 points followed by Gary Formato on 172. Michael van Rooyen in his impeccable Williams Hunt Chev Cruze took third place for the championship. The crash in East London, in which he was blameless, may be what stole his possibilities of finishing second for the season.
Next year the format looks to change, making it more affordable and opening the class up to some exciting new developments. Read The Bugle to find out more soon.
