KwaZulu-Natal's sixth largest region, the Greater KwaDukuza region, has just concluded the election of the region's officials at the Meander Manor Hotel, Salt Rock.
The election was presided over by Elexion, an independent elections body, and overseen by members of the NEC, KZN PTT and observers as prescribed by the ANC constitution. The conference elected Ricardo Mthembu (Chairperson), Khonzuyise Ngidi (Deputy Chairperson), Musa Zondi (Secretary), Matozi Khuzwayo-Dlamini (Deputy Secretary) and Thulani Ntuli (Treasurer).
Ricardo Mthembu who has been elected Chairperson for the second consecutive term has said, "I am happy and accept the task I have been bestowed by the masses for the second consecutive term. I do not take this lightly. Our mission from now on is to improve peoples lives and ensure better and improve service delivery within the region."
"I am pleased with the levels of discipline portrayed by all delegates and cadres who stood for all positions. Most of all I am happy that in an unprecedented move the conference elected two youth persons into the top five of the REC, this shows our seriousness to recognise the ability of young people" concluded Mthembu.
Khonzuyise Ngidi is the former Chairperson of ANC Youth League and Musa Zondi is the current Secretary of the ANC Youth League, they are the youth who have ascended to the regions highest decision-making body between congresses. Their election into the ANC Regional Executive Committee marks a significant point to the resolutions of the Provincial ANCYL 09th Congress, which resolved that young people must assume ranks in the mother-body.
